The present lot is nearly identical to an example in the MuséedesArts Décoratifs, Paris, (inv. 34299 A and B) made by French architect and metalworker Charles-François Rossigneux (1818-1907).

Each in overall good condition and ready to place. The surface of both with areas of dirt and verdigris. The chenets would benefit from a light cleaning and wax polish. Light rubbing to the patina on the masks. One claw foot loose. One chenet lacking a bronze element to the reverse of the column at the capital. One column slightly loose. Each with a cut notch for billet bars, which are now lacking.
