Lot Essay

A pair of candlesticks of the same form and very similar decoration were restituted to the Rothschild family (see Rothschild inventory no. R 4388).

Antoine-Joseph Chappuis l'aîné is recorded as a painter of birds and flowers in the manufactory from 1761-87 and Jean-Baptiste Tandart l'aîné is recorded as a painter of flowers from 1754-1800.
