The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
In overall good condition. With the expected scattered nicks and scratches. With scattered cracks to the front and sides of the bell top. With shrinkage cracks to the wood on the rear door. The glass panels very loose and would benefit from resecuring. Overall, with some rubbing and losses to the painted and gilt decoration, otherwise refreshed in areas. This lot was inspected by clock restorer John Metcalfe who provided the following remarks: With a strike/not strike lever; with a pull quarter repeat function; with a rise and fall movement, verge escapement, steel suspension; with date aperture and false pendulum aperture. A false pendulum aperture was a novelty.
