CIRCA 1740, POSSIBLY IRISH

The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

In good, sound condition and ready to place. With the expected scattered light nicks, marks and faint scratches. With restorations to the pierced talons and to the vasi-form backs plats throughout, consistent with age and use. Some ears missing to carved seat. Each with incised Roman numeral on chair rail, as stated.

Chair A: The brackets on the side of the legs re-glued, one lacking, restorations to the talons, the underside with screws for reinforcement, repair to center of vasi-form splat.
Chair B: blocks re-glued, the front right leg with an additional reinforcement to claw and ball foot, with restoration to splat.
Chair C: With a repaired split to the top of the seat back on the right side, with a restoration to the splat.
Chair D with restorations and small subsequent losses to the vasi-form back splat.
Chair E with restorations to talons and one scrolled ear, with a repaired crack to the back of the seat rail.
Chair F with a repair to the front left knee where it meets the seat and lacking an ear, and with restorations to the splat back.
