The canvas with a wax lining. Minor frame abrasion to the extreme edges. Overall with surface soiling and fine lines of craquelure, notably to the sky. Some pinpoints of pigment loss. Examined under ultraviolet light. Two vertical repaired tears with associated inpainting, and additional T-shaped tear at the river. Further scattered strokes of inpainting to the lower half of the composition. Please note that Christie's does not guarantee the condition of frames.
