The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The illustrations in the catalogue are accurate. Good overall condition. Structurally secure. There are the inevitable minor dents, marks, scratches and shrinkage cracks consistent with age and use. Brass : is slightly tarnished. Paper : there are some scratches and small losses. Painting : there are some losses revealing the bare wood underneath. One fixation element have to be re-fixed. There is a shrinkage crack on the ring of the celestial glob.
These globes which date from the first years of the 19th century are browned by the original varnish, various bites are visible as well as some scratches and small shocks in various places, the horizon tables are also browned and warped in places. The globes were certainly mounted by the firm W. & S.Jones who took charge of the sale as indicated by the additional laminated label.
