Cette lampe bouillotte reprend le modèle livré en 1809 par l’orfèvre Martin-Guillaume Biennais d’après un dessin de Charles Percier. Biennais livre en 1809 six flambeaux pour le grand cabinet de l’empereur Napoléon Ier aux Tuileries, ensuite complétés par deux autres livraisons. Des exemplaires sont conservés de nos jours au musée du Louvre (inv. OA 9459), au château de Fontainebleau (inv. F1112C) et au Mobilier national (inv. GML 1319⁄1 à 5). Ces lampes furent ensuite modifiées à la demande de Louis XVIII qui demanda que l'on remplace les symboles de l’Empire par ceux de la Monarchie. Cette lampe est un des exemplaires redessiné pour la maison Odiot par Olivier Gaube du Gers en 1979-1980.

Marks and stamp clear. Some light bruising to the shade. Spots of corrosion and verdigris. The cross of the crown above the ball finial very slightly bent.
