En placage de satiné et bois de rose et ornementation de bronze ciselé et doré en partie associée, ouvrant par deux vantaux ornés de réserves flanquées aux écoinçons de rosettes et centrées en partie basse de feuilles d'acanthe stylisée, les montants à pan coupé surmontés de chapiteaux fleuris et d'une frise d'oves, estampillée N.PETIT et JME une fois sur le montant arrière gauche pour l'une et deux fois sur le montant arrière gauche et droit sur l'autre, avec des étiquettes de garde-meuble GARDE-MEUBLE MAPLE / Continentale / Daily mail / 15-12-36, découvrant chacune cinq étagères

Lot Essay

Nicolas Petit (1732-1791), reçu maître en 1761 a produit dans son atelier du Faubourg-Saint-Antoine, « Au nom de Jésus », un grand nombre de meubles de toute nature.
Ses premières réalisations reprennent les éléments du goût Rocaille. Par la suite il adaptera ses travaux à l’évolution des styles. La paire de bibliothèques que nous présentons ici s’inscrit dans le plus pur style Louis XVI. Leur forme sobre et monumentale est magnifiée par la qualité des bois précieux appliqués en placage. Les ornementations de bronze doré viennent souligner la justesse et l’équilibre de leur ligne et apportent encore d’avantage d’élégance à ce bel ensemble.

For both cupboards :
Structurally sound.
There are the inevitable minor dents, marks, scratches, shrinkage cracks and rubbing consistent with age and use.
Ormolu mount : The upper cornice, the consoles, all the small rosettes are 19th century and associated.
The larger oval rosettes on the lower part, the frame of the lower part, the key hole and locker are 18th century.

Cupboard 1:
Veneer :There are vertical shrinkage cracks to both lateral panels (approx. 55,5 cm. and approx. 182 cm.) There is a vertical shrinkage crack to the both front doors (approx. 30 cm. and 22 cm.)
There are some lifting to the veneer, especially to the top of the left door.
There are some visible water stains especially to the both lateral panels.
There are two losses to the lower part of the lateral left panel.
Ormolu : with some signs of tarnishing especially to the flower mount. There are some traces of verdigris. With some traces of dirt especially to the hallows of the flower mounts.

Cupboard 2 :
There is three vertical shrinkage cracks to the lower part of the both doors (approx. 79 cm., 46 cm. and 19 cm.)
There is few long vertical shrinkage cracks to each sides (max. approx. 133 cm.).
Veneer : There is a loss to the right corner. There are few lifting and losses to the veneer especially to the middle part of the left door, and to the right corner with minor losses. There is a loss to the left side. There are some minor restoration with 'gomme laque' paste filling.
Ormolu : with some signs of tarnishing especially to the flower mount. There are some traces of verdigris. With some traces of dirt especially to the hallows of the flower mounts.
