Hyacinthe-Jean Régnier est sculpteur, actif à la manufacture de Sèvres de 1825 à 1863. Inspiré d’une technique chinoise d’application de pâtes colorées sur la porcelaine, le procédé de pâte-sur-pâte est mis au point à la manufacture de Sèvres à partir de 1849. Les premiers exemplaires sont exposés à partir de 1850 puis en 1851 lors de la première Exposition Universelle à Londres. Ces pièces remportèrent un grand succès et la technique fut alors reprise par de nombreuses manufactures en France et à l’étranger.
Signed Regnier, the underside incised with a script D for the turner … and 56-1 for a kiln date of (18)56 - January. S.62 in a green losenge for the ground colors and pâte-sur-pâte decoration by Regnier in 1862. Iron red printed crowned N gilding mark for 1867 inside the mouth of the vase.

In generally very good condition. There are tiny firing cracks along the edge of the shoulder and in the strapwork of the cartouche. Negligible wear to the gilding.
