Lot Essay

Georges-François Alix (1846-1906) specialised in 'meubles genre ancien, bronzes et marqueteries'. In 1870 he was established at 46, rue de Charonne and in 1878 moved to 6 bis, rue Richard Lenoir. He exhibited at the Paris Expositions of 1884, 1885 and 1889. Observing the distinctive mounts adorning these unusual tables, it is interesting to note that Alix designed and executed his own bronzes, some of which he in turn sold to Linke.
