The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
CASE: In good overall condition. Formerly with domed top now lacking. Some shrinkage to door veneers and slight warping to lower edge of door. The plinth with restorations; back board stops five inches short of the floor and has elements replaced below. Some horizontal shrinkage to the plinth veneers. Overall carcass and veneers in good condition with some inevitable shrinkage and slight movement.
DIAL: The dial and hands are fairly tidy. The seconds hand is a possible replacement.
MOVEMENT: The going train intermediate wheel and pinion are possible replacements. The escape wheel, pallets, backcock and screws are later. The backplate has plugged holes for the previous backcock. The strike warning wheel and pinion and fly pinion are replacements. The strike gathering wheel arbor has been relieved to allow room for the large diameter escape wheel. The pendulum rod is later and broken from the pendulum bob flat. The suspension spring is lacking. Movement overall is tidy, a little dirty and requires a service and repairs to the pendulum.
