Circular on flat base chased with stiff leaves, with openwork reeded basket weave sides and basket weave rim, rope-twist swing handle, the centre engraved with a coat-of-arms beneath earl's coronet, marked on base and swing handle, also engraved with scratchweight 51=8

The arms are those of Poulett impaling Pocock, for John Poulett, 4th Earl Poulett K.T. (1756-1819) and his first wife Sophia Pocock, daughter of Admiral Sir George Pocock, whom he married in 1782. He succeeded his father in 1788.
