Oval, the fluted domed foot with beaded border, the body chased with ribbon-tied husk swags and lion's mask drop-ring handles, the fluted cover with acanthus foliage and bud finial, the body engraved a coat-of-arms and crest each beneath an earl's coronet, the cover with crest and earl's coronet, marked on body, cover and finial

The arms are those of Alexander impaling Crawford, for James Alexander, 1st Earl of Caledon (1730-1802) of Caledon, co. Tyrone and his wife Anne Crawford (d.1777), daughter of James Crawford of Crawfordsburn, co. Down, whom he married in 1774.
