The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The pile is full and thick throughout, resting well above the knot collar. There is a light surface dirt, which would lift with professional cleaning. There is an irregular area of restoration in the bottom left hand corner border, which measures at its widest 40x20 cm. In the bottom right outer guard stripe there are two small patches of old moth damage, the larger of which measures 5x2 cm. There is a short split, about 5cm long, in the central flowerhead medallion, which has been stabilised in an earlier restoration. There is a split in the upper left corner of the field, which measures about 12 cm. There is a small split in the upper left hand corner, 6 cm in length, and another in the middle 2 cm, with another measuring 6 cm about a foot above it. None of these splits are visible from the face due to the thickness of the pile, and they are all clean vertical splits which could be easily repaired by a professional. The selvage in the upper left hand corner has become weak and is beginning to fray, and would benefit from professional attention. The ends are secured and terminate with a long fringe which preserves almost all of its original braiding.
