Lot Essay

Born in Paris in 1853, Henri Honoré Plé (d.1922) studied under the famous artists Gérault and Mathurin Moreau, working as a painter and sculptor of portraits and bas-reliefs, mainly in stone. He exhibited figures and projects for memorials at the Salon from 1877, winning honourable mentions in 1879 respectively. He also received a bronze medal at the 1900 Paris Exposition Universelle.
