Condition report
A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Good overall condition. With inevitable marks, scratches and shrinkage cracks consistent with age and use. Large shrinkage crack horizontally to the top, following lines of construction. Small restorations to the marquetry, for example to the lower trellis cartouche on the top. Some lifting to the marquetry, particularly on the left and right sides, with subsequent shrinkage. Losses to veneer on lower left of fall-front - one piece detached but present. Small loss to veneer on the back to the stem of a flower. As stated in the cataloguing, previously with chutes. Retouching to the staining of the marquetry.
