The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The pile has uneven wear but much of the wool remains at or just above the knot collar. The palette contains a variety of well saturated pastel colours. There are scattered areas of repiling particularly to the corroded brown in the central medallion and to the edges of the ivory field. Overall the repiling amounts to approximately 25%. There is a small hole, around 10cm long, in the top corner of the field. The carpet has been reduced in size and the border has been reconstructed using part of the original together with rewoven areas amounting to approximately 50%. The rewoven areas appear marginally darker and richer in tone than the original. The carpet is lined for display purposes and remains in good decorative order for a carpet of this period.
