The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
This finely executed marble presents very well.
Overall the marble figures with a few surface marks and light wear.
There are some areas of pitting, most notably to the female figure's robe, with a larger section lacking along the border edge approx. 1⁄2 x 1⁄4 in, almost certainly a small natural fault in the stone which has been chiseled clean. Her reverse with a small area of surface residue.
The male figure with restored breaks to this paint brushes and pallette. The reverse of his proper left forearm with a hexagon section that has been spliced in, almost certainly in the making.
The base edges with a few small chips, predominatly to the base edge with associated infill in areas.
The pedestla with natural inclusions. The top with a faint hairline crack, which is only visible upon close examination. The top edges with a few smal chips. The base with a few shallow chipped losses to the top of the corners, with one larger loss approx 1 in. x 2 in.
Structurally secure and ready to place.
Approximate weight: 339 kg, statue and pedestal
