The luxurious decoration known as 'jewelling', whereby globules of translucent or opaque enamel, on pre-cut gold foils with engraved designs, where applied to the porcelain, was in fashion for a very short time, partly due to the time and expense involved and the inherently fragile nature of the applied bosses.
