The raised superstructure with an arched oval-inlaid gallery above a conformingly inlaid back to the open shelf, and fitted with five drawers below, the projecting lower section with crossbanded edge above a frieze drawer with velvet-lined writing slide and fitted interior above a faux-fluted and oval-inlaid frieze on conformingly decorated square tapering legs with brass caps, the back of one small drawer inscribed in chalk 10698 and 9531 in orange paint, another drawer also inscribed in yellow chalk 9531, the locks stamped with the crowned VR mark to the upper drawers and the main drawer stamped with the British Royal coat-of-arms, each also stamped Secure Patent
