The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
CASE: The basket top with inevitable minor indentations and slight misshaping. The escutcheon with a retaining pin lacking to the lower edge. Hinges to rear door later replaced. Two small repairs to upper moulding. Some minor shrinkage to veneers evident. Movement sitting on two blocks and secured by two blued steel brackets to sides and a further bracket to centre of lower backplate.
DIAL: The silvered chapter ring with light surface scuffs and abrasions. The black wax to the chapters with hairline shrinkage cracks. The hands both slightly misshapen. The hour hand has been repaired. Mild tarnishing overall.
MOVEMENT: Overall generally clean and tidy. The plates have a few plugged holes and a replaced section to the top of the backplate. The backplate has been lacquered. It has been converted to recoil anchor escapement and back to verge escapement. The contrate wheel, crown wheel, top and bottom potance, verge pallet arbor, pendulum, back cock and back cock screws are subsequently replaced. The strike lever-work to the front plate and pull repeat pulley and levers are possible replacements. Repeat wheel work and hammers are also possibly replacements. The three case brackets are later.
