The Dial: The dial with some oxidation, rubbing and surface dirt as expected with age. The enameling of the hours and minutes with some minor craquelure and lifting. Some minor chipping, paint loss and craquelure to the painted areas as expected. Please note that Christie's does not guarantee the working order of clock movements. We would suggest advising with a clock specialist.
The Case: The case and and hood overall with some minor age and construction cracks as expected. The surface with some minor scattered abrasions and losses to the mahogany veneer (not extensive). The giltwood figures of fame later replacements. The two side plinths for the finials later replacements. The giltwood finials with some minor abrasions and losses to the carving; areas of rubbing and loss to the gilding revealing bole and bare wood in areas; similarly for the painted globe of Atlas. Includes a brass pendulum, two weights, a winding key and a key for the case door.
