A clock of this very specific and complex model by Antoine Ravrio is in the collection of the Cooper-Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, New York (inv. no. 1955-82-1). It has been suggested that the seated female figure is Empress Josephine, who is depicted here at her Malmaison residence, or her daughter Queen Hortense of the Netherlands (see H. Ottomeyer and P.Pröschl, Vergoldete Bronzen, vol. I, München, 1987, p. 353, fig. 5.8.5). A clock also by Ravrio conceived in the same spirit but showing a female figure reading in a library interior was sold Christie's, London, 11 September 2019, lot 326.
