Lot Essay

Two very closely related examples are illustrated in C. Payne, Paris Furniture, 2018.

One example is a drawing of an identical form cabinet by Forest with a Chinese lacquer panel depicting foliate scrolls and headed by a female mask (p.43.) A second photograph illustrates an example by Alfred Beurdeley with a nearly Japanned panel inset in the door. (p.273.) A further example by Beurdeley was sold Christie's, London, 1 November 2001, lot 93.
