The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Overall in good condition and ready to place. With typical scattered small nicks and 'nibbles', primarily to edges. With some light surface wear consistent with use.
Example with the lion of St. Marks: 5 in. high, 63⁄4 in. wide
- With some small nicks and 'nibbles' to slate. Some tesserae possibly replaced, including to the tablets. With some tape residue to the reverse.
Example with the Rialto Bridge: 55⁄8 in. high, 71⁄4 in. wide
- Some tesserae lacking, mostly to the sky, and some with light surface wear. Some tesserae possibly replaced. With natural inclusions to the malachite. With some very minor infilled repair including to the windows of the building on the far right side.
Example with the Doves of Pliny: 43⁄4 in. high, 67⁄8 in. wide
- With some small nicks and 'nibbles' to slate. With some residue to the black ground on the left side. Some tesserae with light wear, including to the gins of the doves in the center. With some adhesive residue to the reverse.
Example with the scenes of Venice: 41⁄2 in. high, 6 in. wide
- Some tesserae lacking, primarily to the sky of the scenes, and some with light surface wear. Some tesserae possibly replaced, and some areas with minor infilled repair including the sky above St. Marks basilica in the center.
