Condition report
A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
In good overall condition with minor firing cracks and kiln imperfections to all, in the making; all further with some rubbing and minor loss to enamels and gilding, as well as a few tiny frits and chips; the gu vases with double-walled construction to the interiors including 8 pierced roundels, the roundels with some hairlines and firing lines extending from and between them, not visible at the exterior raised bands; one gu vase chipped at one upper, one middle and one lower vertex; the three covers all with minor glaze chips and fritting, mainly to edges, and minor chips to finials, the lion finials likely re-gilt and/or varnished, making it difficult to determine if there are any small restorations; one cover with a chip at underside, to the inner flange, not visible when resting; one covered vase with a shallow chip to the rim; another covered vase with moderate losses to its enameling, especially to the faux-bamboo painting surrounding the scenes, the interior with an X-shaped glaze line to one side, approx. 6 in. (does not appear to go through to the exterior).
