The arms found on the present lot are those of Gooch. The arms are usually recorded with three leopards’ heads in chief, however, they are sometimes shown with a single leopard’s head on the chief, as recorded in E. Farrer, The Church Heraldry of Norfolk…, Norwich, 1887, p. 155 as displayed on a tomb in Yelverton Church for Ann Rant (d.1678), second daughter of Robert Gooch or Earsham and wife of Humphrey Rant. The same arms can be found on the memorial slab of Robert Gooch (d. 1655) in Earsham Church, Norfolk.
