Lot Essay

The crests are those of Broughton and Delves, for Sir John Delves Broughton, 7th Baronet (1769 - 1847) of Doddington Hall, Cheshire, who succeeded his father in 1813. An identical set of four wine coasters by Paul Storr, London, three dated 1814, one dated 1813, similarly engraved with the Delves Broughton crests were sold from the collection of Benjamin F. Edwards III, Christie’s, New York, 26 January 2010, lot 79.
