拍品专文

The arms are those of Parsons, for a maiden and heiress of the Parsons family, as borne by Sir Thomas Parsons of Great Milton, Oxfordshire, who was knighted 1634, and as found on a seal attached to a will witnessed by Humphrey Parsons in 1702. A branch of the family emigrated to North America where the same arms were used by Joseph Parsons (d. 1683) of Springfield, Massachusetts, Humphrey Parsons of Boston in 1687, and Enoch Parsons of Connecticut (b. 1769). A bowl of 1719 by Isaac Liger engraved with the same arms impaling another is in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum, London (Acc. No. M.501-1911).
