The design of these chairs relates to a suite of mahogany seat furniture made for Robert Child at Osterley Park by the Linnell firm circa 1768 (see: H. Heyward and P. Kirkham, William and John Linnell: Eighteenth Century London Furniture Makers, New York, 1980, vol. I, pp. 118-119, vol. II, p. 39, fig. 72).
