The crests are those of Ker and Innes, for James Innes-Ker, 6th Duke of Roxburghe (1816 - 1879), only surviving child of James Innes-Ker, 5th Duke of Roxburghe (1736 - 1823) and his second wife Harriet Charlewood (1778 - 1855). The 6th Duke, who inherited his father's titles at the age of seven, was educated at Eton and later Christ Church, Oxford. In 1836 he married Susanna Stephania Dalbiac (1814 - 1895), only child of Lt. Gen. Sir James Charles Dalbiac (1776 - 1847) and Susannah Dalton (c. 1829), and in 1840 was made a Knight of the Thistle. Additionally he served as Lt. Gen. of the Royal Company of Archers, a governor of the National Bank of Scotland, and Lord Lieutenant of Berwickshire (1873 - 1879).
