The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The mirror painting in overall well preserved condition. The mirrored background with some scattered foxing and some losses to silvering. The water similarly illustrated with silvering, also with some scattered small losses to silvering. Some verticle abrasions to sides near frame, extreme edges and amongst the rockwork. The painted surfaces with only very minor losses and well maintained. The giltwood frame with some tiny chips and rubbing gilt surfaces revealing gesso, bole and bare wood in areas as to be expected with age. Structurally secure and ready to place. With some deeper horizontal losses to silvering and pigment, especially to junks where water meets sky. With wooden placard reading "Reverse Mirror Painting CANTON China c. 1750."
