Lot Essay

A similar pair of vases of 18th century manufacture, originally from the Duc d'Aumont collection, and a garniture incorporating very similar crackle grey celadon porcelain of the 18th century are illustrated in D. Alcouffe, Gilt bronzes in the Louvre, Dijon, 2004, pp. 89-93. A very similar pair was sold Christie's, New York, 14-15 April 2011 ($35,000).
