The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
In good decorative condition and ready to place. With the expected light nicks, marks, and faint scuffs as to be expected with age and use. The veneer with some areas of lifting, cracking and small losses with associated infill. The ebonized decoration flaking and with small losses overall. With scattered shrinkage cracks. The feet later. The lock plates likely replaced. The cresting on the hood likely replaced. The interior of the case with restorer's sticker for S. Michael Baker. With some smaller dings and nicsk to extreme edges, primairly to base. With one case key and one winding key. Please note Christie's does not gurantee the working order of clock movements. This clock was inspected with restorer John Metcalfe who provided the following remarks: with a bolton shutter, anchoir recoil escapement which is unexpected on these types of movements, the weights appear to be old replacements, the movement dates to the early 18th century.
The movement and clock face measures: 10 1/2 in. high, 11 in. wide, 4 1/4 in. deep.
