In 1878, Victor Raulin succeeded to his father's business, specialising in marquetry and lacquer furniture in the 18th century taste. He exhibited at the Paris 1878 and 1889 and was awarded medals for his entries. A closely related cabinet, with glazed as opposed to panelled upper doors, sold Christie’s, London, 21 April 2010, lot 182 (£15,000).
