The shaped top lined with brown suede above three frieze drawers, the angles with carved acantus clasps, with shaped friezes to the sides and reverse, on cabriole legs headed with shells and with trailing foliage, the similar scrolled feet with castors, handles replaced, with handwritten label `Sir E. Clive Coates Bt' to underside, the centre drawer with three written notes detailing the provenance

By tradition a gift from King George II or III to Sir Edward Hulse, 1st Bt., physician to Queen Anne, George I and George II, or possibly his son, Sir Edward, 2nd Bt., Braemore House, Salisbury, and thence by descent.
