ROME, CIRCA 1850-80

The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

In good original condition.
There is a stable crack running across the sky, as evidenced by the fissures to the black border. The crack has not caused severe movement to the tesserae. The crack faintly visible across the top of the mountains, the crenallation of the castle, and above the tree, and without any overpaint.
Fine tesserae of various sizes and with vivacity of palette. There are more minor areas of movement and indentation to the tesserae, as to be expected with time.
In an iron frame. The underside pencilled '1'.
In a fixed ormolu frame, with some light surface tarnish to gilding.
