The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
In good country house condition.
As stated in the catalogue, the cabinet is probably 19th century but incorporates earlier elements.
The cream painted decoration has been refreshed; the drawer knobs and brass clasp mount are later.
The painted decoration with flaked losses and rubbed in areas, revealing white gesso and exposed timber.
The pietra paesina and specimen marble panels with some natural flaws and hairline cracks but in good condition overall. There is some lifting to the inset marble borders around some of the pietra paesina panels.
The drawers are lined with marbleized paper. Stains and wear to the interior of drawers.
Some very minor traces of old woodworm, now apparently inactive.
