The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
In good overall condition,
There are the inevitable nicks, marks and scratches consistent with age and use.
The marble top with a restored break running the depth. Some minor surface scratches, chips to the edges and areas of infill.
The top of the carcasse (beneath the marble top) has been applied with a later board.
There are some minor losses to the veneers, such as to the top left edge of the upper drawer, to the lower areas of legs and to the back of sides. Some consolidated shrinkage and areas of infill, such as to the sides.
There are some minor signs of old woodworm, now apparently inactive.
As stated in the catalogue, the commode is partly remounted. The foliate handles are later, with infilled holes from previous mounts. Some typical minor tarnish to the gilding.
Highly decorative, structurally stable and ready to place.
