These figures, almost certainly originaly modelled as torcheres, are in overall good condition. The raised bowls ebonized wood and probably replacing lighting fitments. The later patinated surface with surface scratches (primarily to the reverse), areas of flaked loss and rubbing to the high points, as to be expected with age handling. There are variations in tone to the surface and with traces of previous patination beneath evidenced through a textured surface. The proper left arm of the Charmeur de serpents with area of white surface residue, possibly concealing an area of restoration beneath. His proper right hand with two small drilled holes. Each with a rectangular area to their behinds which was possibly later soldered close. The underside wiht rustication, only visble when the figures are tipped. Ready to place.
