This set of four chairs are similar in aspects of their design to 'Drawing room chairs' in Peter and M. A. Nicholson's The Practical Cabinet Maker, Upholsterer and Complete Decorator, London, 1826 and Thomas King's Modern Style of Cabinet Work Exemplified, 1829.
