Condition report
A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The website illustrations are accurate. Good restored condition. There are the inevitable minor dents, marks, scratches, shrinkage cracks and rubbing consistent with age and use. The engraving of the brass inlaid is partly later. The dial with very minor chips as expected. A loss to the middle enamel piece. There are some restorations to the marquetry. There are some minor cracks to the tortoiseshell as expected. The gilding with minor signs of tarnishing. Please note that this condition report has been written from a work of art and not a time-measuring object point of view. Therefore this lot has to be checked by a professional clock-maker.
