The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
We have sought to record changes in the condition of these pieces acquired after their initial manufacture.
Jar 1:
- A large C-section of the body has been broken and restored to the body, with associated overspraying.
- There is an approx. 12 cm. long restored vertical hairline crack going down from the mouth rim.
- There is an approx. 20 cm. long star-crack on the body.
Cover 1:
- There are two old very small chips to the inner rim.
- There is a surface nick to the finial's proper right ear.
- There are a few burst bubbles on the finial.
Jar 2:
- A section of the mouth rim is restored with associated overspraying and regildind.
- An approx. 6 cm. wide section of the mouth rim has been broken and restored with associated overspraying.
Cover 2:
- There are a few nicks to the inner rim.
- There is a very small surface nick to the finial.
General:
- There is some wear to the gilding and some rubbing to the gilt covers' finials.
- There are a few nicks to the foot rims.
- There are a few scattered flakes to the enamels.
- There are some retouches to the enamelling.
- There are some firing cracks and firing faults as can be expected.
- General age-related surface wear as can be expected.
