FAUTEUIL ROULANT D'EPOQUE LOUIS XV
ESTAMPILLE DE PIERRE IV MIGEON, MILIEU DU XVIIIe SIECLE

Condition report
A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The website illustrations are accurate. Good overall condition. There are the inevitable minor dents, marks, scratches and shrinkage cracks consistent with age and use. As stated in the catalogue, stamped twice 'MIGEON' to the back of the backrest. The backrest is slightly distorted by the cane. There are some construction cracks especially to the uprights of the backrest. There are some traces of woodworms apparently inactive, now refilled with ‘gomme-laque’ paste. There are some minor losses to the carving especially to the upper flower of the front right foot. There are some black stains especially to the armrests and to the sides of the backrest. Mechanism: as stated in the catalogue, this armchair is equipped with a mechanism that allows to move forward and turn by means of two cranks. There are two sliding iron bars in the armrests, probably to place a tray or a shelf on. There are some traces of oxidation and some scratches. Please note that this condition report has been made from a work of art perspective and not a useful armchair. It hasn't been checked by a mechanical professional. Upholstery: There are the inevitable minor wear as expected, due to age and use. The cane has been replaced and is in good overall condition. Otherwise, very interesting and curious armchair.
