The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The website illustrations are accurate despite beeing very slightly too bright.
There are the inevitable minor dents, marks, scratches and shrinkage cracks consistent with age and use.
With some very minor construction cracks especially to both backrests.
As stated in the catalogue, there are two black ink handwritten labels with the inscriptions 'Grand Salon. Chaise / dans la Salle à Gauche / près entrée du petit / Salon' et 'Grand Salon / Chaise devant la / Grande Console dorée ...'
Gilding : As stated in the catalogue the gilding is later. With some losses revealing the white gesso, the red bole and the bare wood underneath especially to the edges of the backrests. With some more important losses to the back feet of both chairs.
Upholstery : is good overall condition despite some very minor wear as expected.
The fabric under the seat is detached and needs to be re-fixed as visible on the main image of the website.
