The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The website illustrations are accurate. Good overall condition. There are the inevitable minor dents, marks, scratches and shrinkage cracks consistent with age and use. Gilding : is partly later. There are some losses to the gilding revealing the white gesso and the red bole underneath. There is a very minor losses to the gilding of the right armrest of one armchair. There is one losses to the carving of the front right foot of one armchair and to the left back foot of the other armchair. There are some old traces of wood worms now apparently inactive. Upholstery : would benefit from a gentle cleaning. Structurally secure. Otherwise a very elegant and impressive pair of armchairs.
