The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The website illustrations are accurate despite being slightly overlit.
Good overall condition.
There are the inevitable minor dents, marks, scratches and rubbing.
As stated in the catalogue, the base is signed 'OSMOND' on the right back of the ormolu plinth.
Gilding: there are some traces of tarnishing especially on the flat surfaces, with black spots and traces of dirt especially to the hallows.
Some ormolu elements are very slightly woobly especially the two children figure of the top.
The dial: there are some minor hairlines cracks especially near the '55', with some very minor chips especially to both key holes.
There is a black inscription inside the ormolu frame of the dial.
The back glass of the movement is opaque probably due to an old glue.
Marble : there are some chips and scratches especially to the front edges, with some traces of dirt and minor yellowish areas. There is a trace of an old label which is now removed to the back of the base.
Otherwise, very elegant model.
