The micromosaic depicts Rome's Pantheon with the fountain and obelisk in Piazza della Rotonda. It remains the largest monument in ancient Rome and one of the greatest tourist attractions. Built by order of Agrippa in the 1st century BC, it was completely rebuilt under Hadrian at the beginning of the 2nd century following several fires. The Pantheon was originally a temple dedicated to all the divinities of ancient religion before being converted into a church in the 7th century by Pope Boniface IV.

La micromosaique est une représentation du Panthéon à Rome avec la fontaine et l'obélisque de la piazza della Rotonda. Il demeure le plus grand monument de la Rome antique et l'une des plus grandes attractions touristiques, bâti sur l'ordre d'Agrippa au Ier siècle av. J.-C., il fut entièrement reconstruit sous Hadrien au début du IIe siècle à la suite de plusieurs incendies. Le Panthéon était à l'origine un temple dédié à toutes les divinités de la religion antique avant d'être converti en église au VIIe siècle par le pape Boniface IV.
