The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The flat woven surface has uneven wear with scattered areas where the warps are visible. As shown from the illustration, there are areas of loss, mainly localised to one side of the ivory medallion. The largest area is irregular but measures approx. 39 x 18cm. at its widest points, and these losses would require restoration to rebuild the structure in these areas. There are further scattered splits to the carpet, the largest measuring approx. 66cm. within the guard stripes to the other side of the carpet and the splits would require stabilising to prevent further loss. The colour palette is harmonious but the carpet would benefit from a surface clean to lift the surface dirt and further improve the colours. There are scattered repairs throughout the carpet. The most concentrated area is in the chocolate brown border measuring approx 140cm. x 14cm. and this is more pink in tone than the original with smaller similar repairs scattered throughout the carpet. The reverse has been lined with a fabric backing.
