The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

Inevitable marks, scratches and shrinkage cracks consistent with age and use.
As stated in the description, there are later elements, including but not limited to the mantel, backing of the central frieze and the moulding of the aperture. The entire piece has been deepened to stand more proud of the wall, with additions and later elements to achieve this.
Mantel and elements of the mouldings below replaced.
Left side moulding of aperture replaced.
Backing of frieze replaced.
One tooth to the frieze of the mantel is detached but present.
The side returns extended in depth.
Shrinkage cracks, including to right hand angle and right-hand patera.
Some minor repairs to carving.
Crack to inner concave moulding by aperture to the bottom left.
Later structural reinforcements to back of chimney-piece.
